After you apply
On this page, you can find information if you have applied for or receive housing allowance. You can report changes, read letters and view decisions by logging in to "My housing allowance".
What would you like to do?
Housing allowance is calculated based on your household's total gross income (before tax). Read more about what counts as income.
You must let us know if any of the information you provided in your application changes. If you move to a new address, you must submit a new application.
You must report changes such as:
- someone moving into or out of your home
- a new bank account number
- changes to your housing costs
- someone in your household becoming a student
- changes to business income, capital income or foreign income
If you believe your housing allowance decision was based on incorrect information, you can submit an appeal. The deadline for appealing is three weeks from the date you receive your decision.
Read more about what you can appeal and how to submit an appeal.
You can view your decisions, letters and messages by logging in to My housing allowance.
To log in, you must have an electronic ID (eID). Read more about how to obtain an electronic ID.
Have you received a text message saying you have a letter from us?
When the Housing Bank sends you an email or text message, we will only tell you that you have received a letter from us. We never include information about which scheme it relates to, personal information, payment amounts, links or login passwords.
Never click on links or open attachments in emails or text messages claiming to be from us. Instead, open your web browser and log in to husbanken.no to check your inbox.
You can end your housing allowance online by logging in to My housing allowance.
Your case will automatically be closed if:
- you receive three consecutive refusals because your income is too high
- you report a change of address to the National Population Register
- your application is refused for other reasons
If you are unable to log in and end your application online, you must contact your municipality in writing.
You can authorise someone to act on your behalf
If you would like help with your housing allowance application, you can authorise someone you trust to act on your behalf. Read more about authorising someone to apply for housing allowance.
For guardians and authorised representatives
If you are acting as a guardian or authorised representative for an applicant, you must send the authorisation to the housing allowance office in the municipality or city district where the applicant lives. Read more about applying for housing allowance as a guardian or authorised representative.
Housing allowance decisions are sent to you electronically. If you would prefer to receive decisions by post, you can opt out of digital mail via norge.no.
