Work assessment allowance (AAP), unemployment benefit and housing allowance

AAP and unemployment benefits are paid out every 14 days, based on the information you report on the employment status form submitted every two weeks. Provided that you submit this form on time, you will receive AAP or unemployment benefits three times in one month twice a year.

New rules for housing allowance if you receive AAP or unemployment benefits

Starting in January 2025, new rules apply to housing allowance for recipients of Work Assessment Allowance (AAP) or unemployment benefits. In months where you receive three 14-day payments in the same month, two-thirds of the total will be included in the income calculation. The new rules apply from the decision for January 2025 (which you received in February).

The previous rules—where you would receive reduced housing allowance or lose it entirely in months with three payments—no longer apply.
